ABOUT

There is something internationally appreciated about the excitement of a big ‘burnout’. Is it the overwhelming influx of thick tyre smoke? Maybe it’s the smell of burning rubber and the tyre tread burnt into the track? Or is it the hundreds of horsepower revving at redline for excess lengths of time? It could be any of these individually that draw the huge crowds, but one thing is for certain; witnessing first hand a skilled and tactical burnout by a professional is an experience that will live with you forever.

Burnouts are a serious and legitimate form of motorsport. And like sports built on horsepower, adrenaline comes as part of the package which is one of the reasons why this sport is growing so fast. To say that a quality burnout is entertainment would be an absolute understatement.

Comparable to drag racing, the public roads is where it originated. With laws against street racing together with the high risks involved, it was taken off the streets and it became a professional sport with designated drag strips built. The controlled environment is emulated with the sport of burnouts, with designated skid pads built for serious competition. Very much an Australian grown sport at this level, it has now developed to be a part of most outdoor car events and included as an event highlight.

Burnout Masters is the home for big horse-powered, smoke overloaded, tyre-popping, competition ‘Burnouts’. Documenting the best the world has to offer, this is your destination to view, share and ultimately enjoy the passion of ‘burnouts’.

  • TIPS # 1

    INSTANT SMOKE
The quicker you can get the wheels to smoke - the better! Those not producing smoke instantly will be allocated less points.

    CONSTANT SMOKE
Maintaining constant smoke is one of the hardest things to achieve and to cut it with the best the Vehicle should be smoking the tyres from the very start to the finish without interruption. Hesitation for direction change or whatever cause, will result in less points.

  • TIPS # 2

    QUANTITY OF SMOKE
The volume of smoke produced is another important factor that contributes to allocation of points. Entrants should be mindful of varying wind conditions and should think about the execution of the burnout and how the wind might effect it.

    BURSTING TYRES
While this is not mandatory it does improve your chances of receiving more points. Remember this is entertainment as well.

  • TIPS # 3

    DRIVER CONTROL
Anyone can make the wheels smoke but only the true masters display a high level of control and burnout finesse. To show ultimate driver control the entrant must produce all of the previously mentioned factors and burnout for the entire course - right up to the finish line including the donut pad. Note: Excellence in the donut pad area only, is not considered to be a good burnout.
